The Beema Samiti (Insurance
Board – IB) is going to host the third South Asian Insurance Regulators' Meet
and organize International Insurance Conference 2016 in Kathmandu
on May 12 and 13.
"The Regulators' meet will
be organized on May 12 while the Insurance Conference will be organized for two
days," IB chiarman Prof. Dr. Fatta Bahadur KC said in a press conference
Friday.
At the Regulators' Meet,
Insurance Commissioner of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)
will hand over the chairmanship of the regional body of the insurance
regulators to Nepal.
The first Regulators' Meet was
held in Dhaka of Bangladesh in 2013 and second Meet was held in Karachi , Pakistan
According to the IB, the Karachi
Meet had decided to organize the third conference in Kathmandu last year but
due to the devastating earthquake that rocked the nation in April and May in
2015, the conference could not be held last year.
Dr. KC informed that the
conference would deliberate the methods, experiences and future plans of
inclusive insurance.
It will also discuss on the
topics like risk-based capital and solvency margin, necessity of health
insurance for social security and human resource development for insurance and
capacity building.
The main theme of the conference
will be 'Enhancing Insurance Outreach through Regional Co-operation'.
The Asian Development
Bank and German Cooperation are the co-organize the programme.
