MoneyGram builds 10 schools

Kathmandu, June 11: MoneyGram, a global money transfer service provider, in collaboration with the Chaudhary Foundation, has built 10 primary schools in the quake-hit areas.
"About 80,000 USD grant awarded by the MoneyGram Foundation to the Chaudhary Foundation provided essential funding to build 10 community schools in the districts severely affected by the devastating earthquake last year," read a press release issued by the MoneyGram.
Sheshagiri Malliah, MoneyGram's regional director for South Asia said that the MoneyGram Foundation aimed at enhancing children's access to education.
"We hope the schools we build with Chaudhary Foundation will transform the lives of these students and enable them to make a significant contribution to rebuild Nepal beyond the 2015 earthquakes that devastated their school system and communities."
Chaudhary Group's vice-president Moon Lee said that about 4,000 students would be benefitted by the initiative.
“Chaudhary Foundation has always welcomed and facilitated anyone who would like to support Nepal. When we were trying our best to restore schools and shelters last year, MoneyGram Foundation’s support came for school added big value to our work. MoneyGram Foundation’s support in the past 12 months has been deeply appreciated and we hope in the future too they continue to support the development of Nepal.” said Lee.

More than 4 million students were affected after almost 30,000 school buildings were damaged or completely destroyed in the quakes.
