Kathmandu, Mar. 17:
The Armed Police Force (APF) has completed the reconstruction of 92 per cent of its quake-damaged structure, and the remaining are in the last stage of completion.

The APF has completed the reconstruction of 26 structures – including the buildings of headquarters, brigade and battalion,  out of 28 that needed rebuilding, said Senior Superintendent of Police Engineer Sandip Thapa in a meeting with the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) on Sunday.

About 95 per cent reconstruction of APF Nepal UN Peace Keeping Training Centre building in Kakani is completed while finishing works are underway at the Muktinath Brigade headquarters in Pokhara.

"All the works at these two sites will be completed by mid-May," said Thapa.

He said that the APF needed additional Rs. 65 million for the retrofitting of the 2 multi-storey barracks and head office Pentagon of 18 Number Battallion in Nilbarahi and reconstruction of head office building of 19 Number Battallion in Bagalamukhi in Kathmandu.

NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali said that the reconstruction body would extend possible support in the reconstruction of the infrastructure of the organisations that play key role in the rescue and relief operations during the disasters.

The NRA has mobilised about Rs. 403.6 million for the reconstruction of the APF facilities so far.
