Kathmandu, July 31
Shreedhar Acharya has been appointed Acting Editor-in-Chief
of the Gorkhapatra daily. He was serving as the Managing Editor of the daily.
Born in Sandhikharkha Municipality of Arghakhanchi district,
Acharya had entered the Gorkhapatra Corporation in 1983. He also served as the
member of the Board of Directors and recruitment committee.
He has replaced Shree Om Shrestha, who got retirement on
Friday.
"It is not only a great opportunity but also a responsibility
and challenge. I will continue the reforms being implemented since the last
couple of years," said Acharya.
The Gorkhapatra management welcomed Acharya and bid farewell
to Shrestha at a programme organsied on Friday.
"We have tried to make Gorkhapatra a paper of people.
It is a media heritage as well as the representation of the current time,"
Shrestha said. He said that he thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of the post
during his tenure.
Chairman of the corporation Krishna Murari Bhandary wished
for the successful tenure of the newly appointed editor Acharya and wished a
happy retired life to Shrestha.
"It is a great responsibility to sustain the quality
and make further reforms as the leader of the editorial team of the oldest
newspaper in the country," he said.
Consulting Editor Gopal Khanal and Legal Advisor Kumar
Prasad Bhattarai wished Acharya for a successful tenure.
"Shrestha has been instrumental in implementing the
reforms in the newspaper. I hope the new editor will continue the legacy,"
Khanal said.
Likewise, Hari Kala Adhikari has been appointed Acting
General Manager of the corporation.
