Kathmandu, Aug 16
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the price of
petroleum oil by Rs. 1 in a litre.
The new price of diesel, petrol and kerosene will be
implemented from midnight on 17 August.
After the hike, a litre petrol will cost Rs. 105, and diesel
and kerosene Rs. 91 per litre.
According to Binit Mani Upadhyaya, Spokesperson of the NOC,
the price was adjusted as per the new price list sent by the Indian Oil
Corporation, the sole supplier of petroleum products to Nepal.
He said that the reason behind the increase in the price was
hike in the petroleum prices in the international market.
However, the price of cooking gas and aviation fuel has not
changed.
“The price of the petroleum products in Nepal is cheaper
compared to India. Petrol is cheaper by Rs. 30.71 and diesel by Rs. 37.27 in
Birgunj, the bordering city and major trade point, than in India,” said the
NOC.
