Kathmandu, Aug 14
The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on
Friday pledged its support to all levels of governments – federal, state and
local – in their initiatives to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
It has assured the governments that its bodies and members would extend
the support as per their capacity to the efforts being made to prevent the
spread of virus.
Saying that the first priority was life during the sensitive period
like the COVID-19, the business body appealed to its members to contribute to
the fight against the coronavirus pandemic not just relying on the government
efforts rather collaborating with the latter.
"All governments are untiringly working to prevent the spread of
the virus and treat the patients across the country. This unique situation
demands a high social responsibility from the business community to the
society," said the FNCCI in a statement. "There is an urgent need
that we support the government to make the programme, plans and activities
announced and implemented successful," it added.
It has urged the business people as well as the common people to strictly
follow the health protocols to stay safe from the virus.
The FNCCI has also expressed serious concerns over the damages the
coronavirus pandemic inflicted to the economy.
