Investment Board Nepal (IBN) is set to launch its five
year Strategic Plan (2021-26) with business schemes on the occasion of its 10th
anniversary.
The one-door agency established to facilitate investment
in large projects is celebrating the 10th anniversary on Wednesday
with the slogan of ‘10 Years of Investment Board Nepal: Partnership for
Economic Prosperity’. The board was established in 2011.
In the past one decade the board has signed Project
Development Agreement with Huaxin Cement, Hongshi-Shivam Cement, and Arun-III
and Upper Karnali Hydropower Project. Likewise, approval is given to nine
projects including in hydropower, cable car, vehicle manufacturing, industrial
park, and freight and logistic station.
The 10th anniversary programme scheduled for
Wednesday afternoon will be inaugurated by Prime Minister and Chairman of the
IBN, Sher Bahadur Deuba. He will unveil Nepal Investment Guide, 2021 and Coffee
Table book on the occasion.
Minister for Finance and Vice-Chairman of the IBN, Janardan
Sharma, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal,
Chief Executive Officer of the IBN, Sushil Bhatta, World Bank’s Regional
Director (Infrastructure), Guangzhe Chen, British Ambassador to Nepal, Nicola
Pollitt, Chairman of World Association of PPP Units and PPP Professional, Zuad
Alexandre Hayek, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN Ltd, India, Nanda Lal
Sharma, and Chairman of Hong Kong Red Lion No. 3 Co., Zhang Ziaohua, will
address the inaugural session of the celebration programme.
The IBN will felicitate various personalities including
the developers of the projects facilitated by the board, development partners
and other stakeholders.
Two discussion sessions will be organised on sustainable
infrastructure development and Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Through the discussions, the IBN aims to identify the
possibilities of green infrastructure in Nepal, challenges of the current legal
regime, potential and challenges of PPP projects, and development and
management of large projects.
Deputy Spokesperson of the IBN, Ramesh Adhikari, said that the anniversary would be organised physically while participation of high dignitaries would also be made via digital platforms as well.
