Nepal sends note to India on Dhami case

Kathmandu, Sept. 7

The government has recently sent a diplomatic note to India on the missing of Jaya Singh Dhami, a youth from Khaldang of Byas Rural Municipality in Darchula district.

Dhami, 33, had gone missing after he fell into the mightly Mahakali River after the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the  border guarding force of India, allegedly cut the cable while he was crossing it. According to a report of the probe committee formed by the Home Ministry, the SSB personnel were present at the site at the time of the accident.

Responding to the demand made by the report, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had written to the Indian government through its embassy in Kathmandu. The note is said to be handed over to the embassy a couple of days ago.

A Foreign Ministry officials on the condition of anonymity said that the note was sent to the southern neighbour as per the recommendation of the report.

Meanwhile, Whip of the ruling Nepali Congress Pushpa Bhusal confirmed the correspondence at the Parliamentary Party meeting of the party on Tuesday.

 Meanwhile, Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand is updating the parliament about the note on Wednesday.
