Kathmandu, Sept 8
Nepal Foreign
Trade Association (NFTA) has stressed on the need of an agency to monitor and prove
the destruction of the expired and damaged goods.
In a meeting
with Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini on Wednesday, a delegation of the
NFTA has suggested to create an independent agency to monitor and record the
destruction of the expired and damaged goods.
The delegation
led by its President Sunil Kumar Bansal handed over the suggestions to create a
business-friendly environment to the government. The suggestions include the
challenges in the areas of income tax, value added tax, excise duty, customs
and import-export trade and way to address them.
Bansal said that
the small and medium exporters have not got the export grant for a long time
and demanded that it should be paid at the earliest.
"Since
Nepal will be graduated to a developing nation from the Least Developed Country
in 2026, it will be deprived of various trade facilities and favours from the
developed country that are given to a LDC therefore, the government should sign
bilateral agreements with those countries to ensure the export markets for
Nepali goods," said Bansal.
He also said
that the government should provide the facility to renew the exim code for five
years.
The association
also demanded with the government to remove the syndicated in wool import.
In response,
Marasini said that he would take the demands seriously. He also said that the
government had given priority to the management of vaccines against the
COVID-19 so that the economic activities would not be affected due to the
pandemic.
