Desh Bandhu Basnet (Ajit)
has been appointed Chairman of Tourism and Aviation Committee of the Federation
of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). President of the FNCCI,
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, selected him as the chairman of the committee according
to the statute of the federation.
He has been active in
tourism business for more than a decade and elected twice as an executive
member of the business body.
Earlier, as the chairman
of NRN and Binational Forum of the Federation, Basnet had played an important
role in bringing in foreign investment in Nepal by making bilateral
associations and non-resident Nepali organisations of various countries
operational.
During his tenure, he
could help in conducting direct flights with other countries and to bring in more
foreign tourists.
Handing over the
certificate of the appointment on Wednesday, Dhakal expressed his hopes that Basnet
would play a role in promoting Nepal at the international level and attracting
foreign tourists.
Basnet is launching star-level
hotels and resorts in Nepal and has brought in various world famous brands of
hotels for tourism promotion. He has completed the construction of two
five-star hotels in Kathmandu and Itahari at the same time.
Similarly, he is about to
launch Sarobar Hotels and Resorts under Sarobar premium brand of five-star
level in an area of 50 ropanis at Manakamanama, a religious and tourism destination.
He is honorary consul of Zambia in Nepal.
