Five journalists vye for FNJ top post



Kathmandu, Aug. 20: Five journalists Sunday fielded their candidacy for the post of president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).
According to the list published by the Central Election Committee of the FNJ on Sunday evening, Govinda Acharya, Tirtha Koirala, Ujir Magar, Indra Bahadur Raut and Bhawana Bidrohi are contesting for the FNJ's top post.
Dozens of candidates registered their nominations for 45 posts of the central committee of FNJ, the umbrella organisations of Nepali journalists.
The 25th General Assembly of the FNJ is being held in Kathmandu from 20 to 22 August. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba opened the general assembly this morning.  
Dipak Pathak, Matrika Poudel and Bipul Pokharel registered their candidacies for the post of the Vice-President in the open category.  Dilip Thapa Magar and Mahesh Das fielded their nomination for VP under inclusive category.
Balkrishna Basnet and Ramesh Bista are vying for the post of General Secretary.
Similarly, 14 journalists are fighting for the six posts of Secretaries.
Ram Prasad Dahal, Dipendra Kunwar, Bhupa Raj Khadka and Rudra Prasad Bhatta are the candidates of secretary in the open category, Laxmi Pun and Sushma Poudel are fighting in the female category, Udaya GM and Sidda Raj Rai in indigenous category, Atish Kumar Mishra and Shital Prasad Mahato in Madhesi category, Rem Bahadur Bishwakarma and Hem Karna BK in dalit category, and Prakash Thapa and Mahendra Prasad Bhattarai in associate category.
Likewise, Khagendra Panta and Rajesh Mishra are the candidates for Treasurer and Ram Hari Silwal and Roshan Puri for Account Committee Coordinator.
