Kathmandu, Aug. 3: Nepal and Morocco Thursday signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) for bilateral consultation and cooperation.
Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA)
of Nepal and ambassador of Morocco to Nepal Mohamed Maliki signed the MoU on
behalf of the MoFA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the
Kingdom of Morocco respectively.

Mahara witnessed the ceremony which was held at the Ministry.
Speaking at the programme, Bairagi highlighted the importance of the
consultation mechanism in exploring the ways and means for further expanding
and consolidating the bilateral relations and cooperation.
“The Consultation between the two countries on matters of mutual interest would help enhance bilateral engagement in various fields,” he said.

Ambassador Maliki expressed his satisfaction over the state of bilateral
relations ever since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1975.
He expressed his hope that the MoU would be useful in enhancing future
cooperation between the two countries.
According to a press statement issued by the MoFA, the MoU establishes a
consultation mechanism at the level of Foreign Secretary or Director General to
be convened annually in Nepal and Morocco alternatively to facilitate exchange
of visits as well as to conduct consultations between the two countries in all
areas of mutual interest.
Senior officials from the MoFA, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy
of Morocco based in New Delhi and Morocco's Honorary Consul General Bashanta
Kumar Chaudhary were also present at the ceremony.
