Lalitpur, Aug 20: Cooperative experts Sunday urged the
government to formulate policies and programmes to enhance the participation of
youth in the task of nation building.
Speaking at an interaction programme organised by the
National Cooperative Limited here, they suggested implementing youth-oriented
programmes through the cooperatives.
According to them, it is necessary to launch
job-oriented programmes, and apply latest technology to engage the youth power
for the betterment of society.
Global Board Member of the International Cooperative
Alliance Aditya Yadav said that the experts of the cooperatives should be given
opportunities to work at the policy level.
“Indian Farmers
Fertilisers Cooperative (IFFCO) is ready to work with Nepal to support it in
connecting the cooperative to the production. Nepal’s cooperative movement has
achieved a tremendous success, and now it needs a brand. We are ready to
support Nepal in this regard,” he said.
He presented the example of IFFCO communicating with
thousands of farmers through the application of the latest communication
technology.
Lawmaker and president of National Cooperative
Association Limited Keshav Prasad Badal highlighted status of youth
participation in the cooperative movement and achievement of the cooperatives.
Executive Director of the Youth and Small
Entrepreneurs Self-Employment Fund Bishnu Prasad Gautam and Deputy General
Manager of IFFCO Tarun Bhargav have presented working paper in the programme.
Managing Director of National Cooperative Bank Limited
K. B. Upreti, lawmaker Om Devi Malla, Chairman of the National Cooperative Bank
Ramesh Pokharel and other experts also expressed their views on the occasion.
