The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Duhabi Municipality, Sunsari have signed a Local Contribution Agreement to promote the commercialisation and marketing of agricultural and cottage industry products in Duhabi.
Under the
arrangement, GIZ will implement the second phase of the project in partnership
with Duhabi Municipality.
The Local
Contribution Agreement was formally handed over to Duhabi Mayor Bed Narayan
Gachhadar by GIZ representatives on Wednesday. According to the agreement, GIZ
will invest an initial Rs. 7 million in the project, while the municipality
will bear the remaining costs.
The project will
be implemented in Duhabi Municipality over three years until July 15, 2029.
According to GIZ,
the initiative aims to work closely with the local government to implement
project activities effectively, promote the commercial marketing of
agricultural and household products, provide entrepreneurs with skills
training, monitoring and doorstep technical support, strengthen institutional
capacity and contribute to sustainable local development.
Chief
Administrative Officer of Duhabi Subarna Ghimire said the project would help
strengthen small-scale entrepreneurs engaged in agriculture, livestock and
cottage industries by enhancing their skills and supporting the expansion of
their businesses through collaboration with the local government.
Mayor Gachhadar
expressed confidence that the partnership would help generate employment, boost
entrepreneurial confidence, improve good governance and public service
delivery, and support sustainable development programmes. He added that the
collaboration would enhance the municipality's institutional capacity while
delivering direct benefits to the local community.
