NAFIJ awards three journalists

Kathmandu, July 17

The Nepal Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ) has awarded three journalists for their best reporting in the economic, cooperative and insurance sectors.

Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, founding General Secretary of Bharat Mohan Adhikari Memorial Foundation and lawmaker Lima Adhikari, and Chairman of Prabhu Insurance and Immediate President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajendra Malla felicitated the winners at a programme organised in Lalitpur on Thursday.

They handed over the certificates and cash prizes to the winners selected through competitive jury selection.

This year's Bharat Mohan Adhikari NAFIJ Economic Journalism Award was presented to Suresh Bidari of Setopati, and Bharat Mohan Adhikari NAFIJ Cooperative Journalism Award to Rita Raut of Nepalpress.

Similarly, the Nepal Insurers' Association–NAFIJ Insurance Journalism Award was presented to Rina Khatri of Beemapost.

Lawmaker Adhikari, the daughter of the late Bharat Mohan, who initiated social security during his brief stint as finance minister in 1994-1995, said that the foundation aimed to promote good journalistic practices by recognising the best reports in the economic and cooperative sectors.

Likewise, trustee of NIA-NAFIJ Insurance Journalism Award, Malla, said the role of the media has always been critical in promoting economic development and investment.
