Land at Ratmate acquired lawfully: MCA

 Kathmandu, Aug 15

The Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Nepal clarified on Sunday that the land it is acquiring to build a sub-station at Ratmate of Belkotgadhi Municipality-7 in Nuwakot district would be the property of MCA-Nepal not the donor agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

“All the lands acquired for the transmission line project funded under the MCC grant support would be the properties of the MCA Nepal which is an agency under the Ministry of Finance,” it said in a statement. “After the dissolution of the MCA-Nepal, the substation, other structures build there and the land would be handed over to the Nepal Electricity Authority or the agency chosen by the government,” it added.

Expressing the concerns about the news stories appeared in some media, MCA-Nepal said that all properties would be registered in the name of it.

All the works related to the substation will be conducted by MCA-Nepal as per the Development Committee Act, 2013.

As per the agreement with the MCC, no property will remain with the MCC.
