NEC to help in designing sustainable bridges

Kathmandu, July 29

Nepal Engineering College (NEC) is set to launch a subject on designing and constructing strong and sustainable bridges in local roads in Nepal for its students studying Bachelors of engineering.

The course will focus on enabling the students with the knowledge of the technical aspects of the sustainable bridge. The college will design a new curriculum to implement the course.

It signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Local Roads Bridges Unit (LRBU) on Thursday. LRBU is supporting in designing and supervision of more than 100 bridges in the local roads.

Principal of the College Prof. Dr. Hari Krishna Shrestha, and LRBU’s Team Leader Er. Sakil Manandhar signed the MoU.

As per the MoU, if any student wanted to do a project on the topic, he/she would be provided with the expenses for field visit, data collection, lodging and food.

Both the institutions expected that the course would provide some remedy to common problem of bridges which damage during the monsoon.
