Kathmandu, Aug. 11
Prime Minister KP Sharma
Oli has asked the Lumbini provincial government to focus on increasing
production and employment along with infrastructure development.
In a discussion with Chief
Minister Chet Narayan Acharya of the province held at the Prime Minister's
residence in Baluwatar on Sunday, Prime Minister Oli suggested expanding the
market by industrialising agriculture by planting advanced varieties of crops
on suitable soil.
"Currently, the
overall economy is going down. There is no immediate increase in production by
spending the budget on structures like buildings and offices. We have fertile
land, water and a conducive climate. There are many bases on which production
and employment can be increased through hard work,” he said.
He stated that there should
be a relationship of flesh and blood between the political leaders, cadres and
people. “We should not get stuck in trivial matters like who should get the
government appointment. We should focus on how to solve the existing problems
of the country,” said PM Oli.
Mentioning that the
present political coalition and the government were formed due to the special
situation of the country, he said that no one could build the country if the two
largest parties, the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, united for the same motive,
failed to do so.
Prime Minister Oli said
that the provincial governments are running on a deficit budget and requested the
CM to work in such a way as to end this situation.
He also said that the
provincial government should focus on result-oriented projects and programmes,
and put their efforts into political consensus and cooperation in the province.
Chief Minister Acharya
expressed his expectation for the support of the central government in managing
the budget and overall infrastructure development in Dang to shift the
provincial capital from Butwal of Rupandehi district.
Deputy Prime Minister and
Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and General Secretary of CPN (UML)
Shankar Pokharel among others were present during the meeting.
