Kathmandu, Aug. 17
Amidst the growing concerns about
the shortage of employment opportunities and residence facilities in Canada,
the Embassy of Nepal in Ottawa has issued an advisory for young Nepali students
planning to go to Canada.
"With the rapid increase in
the number of people coming to Canada from around the globe in search of
employment and study opportunities, it has become increasingly difficult to find
a residence here," the Embassy said in a notice issued on Friday evening. A
new academic session is about to start in Canadian education institutions, so
the embassy advised Nepalis to come to Canada only after confirming their place
of residence.
According to the embassy,
there has been intense pressure on student accommodation and employment
opportunities across Canada. Students are finding it difficult to find
accommodation and employment opportunities there.
The Embassy also suggested that one
should be aware of the possibility of fraud while paying rent in advance for
accommodation based on advertisements given on social media. It is also
recommended to seek help and updates from relatives or friends who are living
in Canada, students' social media networks, Non-Resident Nepali Associations
and the Nepali diaspora.
Having enough information about
the place they want to go, method of study, cost, availability of housing and
possibility of employment is important to avoid the problems that students
encounter in foreign countries.
"Parents should send their
children only after making proper arrangements for their study, accommodation
and living expenses," the Embassy said while stressing that the students
should be aware of the problems they are likely to face after reaching Canada.
It also advised them to refrain from unrealistic, inadequate and exaggerated
propaganda.
