Foreign Secretary instructs Nepali missions in West Asia for online service

 Kathmandu, Aug. 7

Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Sewa Lamsal has instructed the Nepali Missions in West Asia to adopt the online process for the verification of demand letters in accordance with the policy of the Government of Nepal to implement digital governance.

She gave these instructions in a virtual meeting with the staff working in the mission including the ambassador, acting ambassador, consul general, labor counselor and labor assistant of the Nepali Mission in the region, the Embassy of Nepal in Mascot of Oman said in a statement.

Lamsal has reached Oman for the first meeting of the consultative mechanism between Nepal and Oman. According to her, the Nepali missions abroad should make the service delivery simple, transparent and effective.

The region is the prime destination for Nepali migrant workers, and largest source of remittance for the country.

She also instructed the concerned officials to actively work for the promotion of economic diplomacy, saying that everyone should have a meaningful role to solve the problems of the workers and make the foreign employment orderly and dignified.

The virtual meeting has deliberated upon the issues like online verification of workers demand, domestic women workers, rescue of workers, compensation, management of dead bodies and solutions related to workers.

It also discussed trade, investment, tourism and employment promotion, and management of resources in the Nepalese mission, according to the Embassy.
