Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana
Deuba is paying a five-day official visit to India from August 18 to 22.
She is visiting India at the invitation of
the Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs (MoFA) informed in a statement on Saturday.
During the visit, the FM Dr. Deuba will
hold a meeting with her Indian counterpart Dr. Jaishankar and discuss matters
of mutual interest for further strengthening Nepal-India relations and
promoting cooperation.
Officials
from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu will also participate in the bilateral
discussion with Dr. Jaishankar.
According to the MoFA sources, FM Dr. Deuba
is likely to meet Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and she will extend an
official invitation to him for the visit of Nepal.
“As part of the regular exchange of high-level
visits between Nepal and India, this visit will further consolidate the
age-old, deep and multifaceted bilateral relations,” said the MoFA.
The three-member delegation will leave
Kathmandu at 11:30 on Sunday morning. Joint Secretary of MoFA and South Asia
Division Chief, Bhrigu Dhungana will accompany FM Dr. Deuba.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs is
scheduled to return home on August 22.
