 Kathmandu, Aug. 11

Foreign Secretary of India, Vikaram Misri paid courtesy calls to President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday afternoon.

On the occasion, President Paudel said that Nepal and India should work together to reduce the impact of climate change. "Since the safety of mankind depends on the safety of mountains and water, both countries must work together to minimise the effects of climate change," President Paudel's press advisor Kiran Pokharel quoted the President as saying.

Misri has arrived in Kathmandu on a 2-day visit at the invitation of Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal.

President Paudel mentioned that there has been a relationship between Nepal and India since time immemorial as well as India's support in the development of Nepal. He expressed his hope that the relationship between the two countries would be strengthened during the tenure of Secretary Misri.

President Paudel said that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries should be strengthened for mutual benefit and prosperity. “Modernisation of agriculture, infrastructure development, hydropower, trade, investment, tourism and human resource development are the priorities of Nepal. There is a lot of potential for hydropower development, sustainable and energy trade in Nepal,” he said.
