FNCCI, QCCI to work jointly for trade, investment promotion

Kathmandu, Nov. 1:
Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Qatar Chambers of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) have said that they would work jointly for bilateral trade and investment promotion.

High-level business leaders of both the organisations said, at a meeting held in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday, that they were ready to move ahead in exploring business and trade potentials between the two countries, said the FNCCI.

Major areas of interest are agriculture, tourism, hydropower and infrastructure among others.
FNCCI and QCCI had signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2005.

Mohammed Ahmed Twar Al-Kawari, Vice Chairman of the QCCI, expressed interests to enhance bilateral trade and business opportunities in joint collaboration with FNCCI.

He said that that for more trade and investment, both the chambers have to exchange delegations and invest in potential sectors.

The FNCCI delegation is in Qatar in the entourage of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Vice-president of FNCCI Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that Nepal has investment potentials also in the areas of tourism, banking, insurance and other sectors. 

FNCCI delegation included Hem Raj Dhakal, executive committee member, Nirmal Bhattarai, President of Nepal Larger Cardamom Association, Vijay Bahadur Shah, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Insurance Company and Gopal Prasad Tiwari, Officiating Director General of FNCCI.

Qatar investors have invested US$1.48 million in Nepali tourism and service sector.
