Kathmandu, Nov.
21: Businessmen in Yangoon, former capital city of Myanmar, on Tuesday decided
to establish Myanmar-Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote business
and investment between the two countries.
Established
under the leadership of prominent businessman Mangeram Agrawal, the
organisation has two vice-presidents Ko Ko Latt and Ganesh Baniya, General
Secretary Aung Bo Bo, Joint-Secretary Rajesh Bhusal and Treasurer Bishnu Wagle.
It is the first
ever Chamber of Commerce established in Yangoon since the establishment of
diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Nepal in 1960, said the Embassy of
Nepal in Yangoon.
“As the two
governments are expecting to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation
of Trade and Investment soon, the chamber can play an important role in
collaborating economic cooperation and business among private sectors,” it
said.
Some members of
the chamber are participating at the Nepal Chamber Expo 2018 which is being organised
in Kathmandu from 29 November to 3 December 2018. Myanmar is the Country
Partner in the export this year.
