Kathmandu, Dec. 12
Managing
Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghishing has urged the
Andritz Hydro to complete the work at the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectricity
Project within a year from now.
The Austrian
company involved in completing the last remaining works including
electromechanical works at the 456 MW national pride project in Dolakha
district.
Speaking at a programme organised by the company to interact
with its clients on Thursday, Ghishing said, "I hope that the electricity
from the Upper Tamakoshi would have been connected to the national grid by time
you are celebrating next customer meet."
Andritz is
installing penstock pipe at the project.
The event was opened by Ghising, Matthias Radosztics, Deputy
Head of Mission, Austrian Embassy India and Nepal, Michael Lederer, Attache for
Transport, Innovation and Technology and Josef Ullmer, Regional Executive,
South Asia, South East Asia & Oceania.
According to the company, it has a portfolio of more
than 30 projects (commissioned and / or under construction) totaling nearly
1200 MW of electricity in Nepal.
This year, company will be
adding 67 MW capacity to the nation’s grid.
It is also involved in Middle
Bhotekoshi project (102 MW) and private sector projects.
It was also associated with
the Kulekhani project, Middle Marsyangdi and Chilime projects which have been
in commission for over a decade now.
Ullmer said that the
company was proud to be part of the development in the country and expressed
commitment that it would continue to remain an important part of the country’s
growth towards self-reliance.
