Education, health fundamental rights, says Minister Pokharel

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has said that the government had ensured social rights like education and health as the fundamental right. 


"The primary education is mandatory and free of cost while the secondary also costs no fees," he said while addressing the ninth Convocation Ceremony of the Purbanchal University here on Friday.

He stressed on the need for making qualitative and technology-oriented. 


"The government has integrated all sectoral and sub-sectoral policies on education in National Education Policy 2019," said Minister Pokharel, who is also the co-chancellor of the university.

He said that the graduates of the university should help the country make its future bright. 


"You should be ready to contribute to national development whenever needed. You have to set the direction of future course for the country," said Pokharel. 


Professor Pratap Jyoti Handik, Vice-Chancellor of the Guwahati University, India had delivered the keynote speech at the ceremony. 


About 8023 students of bachelors and 1965 of master's level were graduated from the university in the last three years. 


Students with the best results were awarded with medals on the occasion.

 Bhup Dhoj Karki and Ganesh Gautam of Acme Engineering College were awarded 4/4 gold medals for standing first in 2016 batch.
