The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has emphasised on
enhancing economic partnership and bilateral trade promotion with Pakistan and
Turkey.
In an interaction with the newly appointed Ambassador to Pakistan, with
accreditation to Turkey, Tapas Adhikari on Thursday, the business body said
that both the countries held high importance in terms of trade potential.
"CNI has always assigned high importance to economic diplomacy. We
are putting our efforts to hold dialogue and forge cooperation with the Nepali
embassies abroad for the investment and trade promotion to support in the
economic development of the country," said Senior Vice President of CNI
Bishnu Kumar Agrawal.
He expressed hope that Adhikari would play his role in expanding investment and trade relations with Pakistan.
He said that although there were opportunities for investment partnership and
trade development between the two countreis, constraints in supply system had
created challenges. "Therefore, you have to take initiatives to address
those constraints," Agrawal urged the ambassador.
In response, envoy Adhikari said that he would accord top priority to
remove the challenges to bilateral trade and investment promotion. "There
is also a need to start study and work for the alternative supply system to
send tea and cardamom to Pakistan in a large scale," he said.
He also pledged for revitalising the bilateral economic and tourism promotion
mechanism. "Meanwhile, you need to pay attention to increasing the exports
to Turkey," he said.
Established in 1967, the Nepali Embassy in Islamabad is also concurrently
accredited to Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
