Govt to strengthen confidence of private sector

Kathmandu, Nov. 11

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that the government would work to strengthen the confidence and trust of the private sector.

The economy and the businesses could be revived with support and promotion of the government to the private sector and minimisation of the impact of COVID-19 on the economy, he said in a meeting with a delegation of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) on Wednesday at his office in Singha Durbar.

The delegation was led by NCC President Rajesh Kazi Shrestha.

"The government and private sector should move ahead hand in hand," said FM Paudel.

He urged the entrepreneurs to run industries and businesses with the application of health safety protocols in order to give the necessary impetus to the economic activities during the hard times.

He pledged full implementation of the relief and rehabilitation programmes announced in the budget of the current fiscal year 2020/21.

According to FM Paudel, most of the challenges could be addressed if the government understood the challenges and problems of the private sector and the latter knew about the roles and limitations of the government.

President of the NCC Shrestha urged the minister to create an environment to run businesses and industries in order to increase people’s purchasing power and promote economic activities.

The NCC submitted a 22-point recommendation to the Finance Minister.
