FNCCI election witnesses 100 per cent vote cast

Kathmandu, Nov. 28

Voting for the election of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI)’s new working committee completed in Kathmandu on Saturday.

According to the Election Committee, for the first time in the business organisation’s history, the poll witnessed 100 per cent vote cast.

Voting for the district and municipal candidates was organised at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi and associate candidates at Karki Banquet, Thapathali while election for commodity candidates was held at FNCCI Secretariat.

There were 903 voters from associates segment, 105 from district and municipal CCIs and 101 from commodity segment. The district and municipal CCIs have 50 per cent weightage in the entire election, associates 30 per cent and commodity 20 per cent.

Vote counting process has started since Saturday evening.

As per the statute of the FNCCI, the highest post to be contested in the election is Senior Vice-president while the elected Senior VP automatically elevated to the post of the President after completing his three-year tenure.

After the election Senior VP Shekhar Golchha will replace the incumbent President Bhawani Rana. For the working committee, Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Kishore Kumar Pradhan, both the candidates of Senior VP, are in the election fray making their own panels.

Dhakal’s vice-presidential candidates are Ram Chandra Sanghai, Umesh Lal Shrestha and Guna Nidhi Tiwari and Pradhan’s is backed by Anjan Shrestha, Saurabh Jyoti and Dinesh Shrestha.
