Global IME Bank Limited has
launched branchless banking service in Jhyaupokhari of Bhojpur and Hathmunda of
Dhanusha districts. With this the total number of GIBL branchless banking has
reached 231.
The bank has appointed
Nadira Ghale as the representative of the Jhyaupokhari, Sadananda Gaunpalika –
11, branchless banking and Dharmendra Kumar Mahato of the Hathmandu, Kamala
Municipality – 7, said the bank in a statement on Thursday.
People in the rural areas
can obtain banking service through the local representatives who provide
services like opening of bank account, depositing money of certain limit,
obtaining information about balance, repaying the loan, topping up mobile
phones and paying the utility bills.
People in the two areas
where the new services were launched have agriculture, tourism and remittance
as their main income. "Our service will end their obligation to make long
travel to obtain the banking facilities," said the bank.
GIBL has 261 branches in 71 districts, 237 ATMs, 43 extension and revenue collection counters and three international representatives. It has 2.1 million customers.
