IBN and Muktinath Darshan sign MoU for the longest cable car

Kathmandu, Sept. 12: A new company Muktinath Darshan Pvt. Ltd. is set to develop the longest cable car in the country, from Bire Thanti of Kaski district to Muktinath, the holy place in Mustang district.

The cable car would be developed at the cost of 350 million UD Dollars.

The company on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) to develop and operate the 83.6 km long cable car.

IBN Chief Executive Officer Maha Prasad Adhikari and Muktinath Darshan's Chairman Arun Kumar Subedi signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Bire Thanti, one of the entry-points to the Annapurna region, is situated at 1025 m height from the sea level and Muktinath temple is about 3,800 m altitude.

Along the route, there will be six stations which are divided into Bire Thanti-Ghorepani, Ghorepani-Tatopani, Tatopani-Lete Marpha, Lete-Marpha-Jomsom, Jomsom-Kagbeni and Kagbeni-Muktinath sections.

An IBN Board Meeting on 28 April this year had approved the Cable Car Project Proposal of the company and asked the IBN to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the project.

The IBN will prepare the DPR within 18 months from the MoU signing and submit it to the board.
