Kathmandu, Sept. 2:
Prashansha KC was awarded with Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2018. She is a
filmmaker, social activist and poet.
Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista awarded
her with the title on Saturday evening.
She was awarded for her project to spread awareness about forced marriage
and child marriage, which was created for World Experience Foundation in 2017.
“She created a document art about this campaign with an objective educating,
making aware and encouraging the viewers to make change in the society,” said
Globcal Pvt. Ltd., the organiser which organised the fourth edition of the
award the other day.
She was selected the best among 532 teenager applicants who demonstrated
their skills and expertise, and made an impact in their society from the areas
like social work to journalism, from mobile app development and computer
programming to robotics, and from entrepreneurship to community development
among others.
Six teenagers had made their place in the top finalists – 19 years old
inventor from Tanahun Bikalpa Dhungana, 18 years old writer from Makwanpur
Deepshikha Ghimire, 17 years old social activist from Rukum Prasansha KC, 19
years old entrepreneur from Chitwan Saugat Tiwari, 19 years old ecopreneur from
Okhaldhunga Sudarshan Subedi, and 17 years old social entrepreneur from
Sindhupalchowk Swornim Shrestha.
The selection was based on their resume, the evidence and an essay on
their accomplishment.
The six finalists also went through a six-day capacity building workshop,
training and corporate visits and recreation.
