Kathmandu, Sept. 4: The
National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has urged the Non-Resident Nepali
Association (NRNA) to complete the reconstruction of Laprak, a village near the
epicentre of the devastating Gorkha Earthquake of 2015, as early as possible.
The reconstruction body on
Tuesday held an interaction with the NRNA Central Committee members to discuss
the recent status of Laprak reconstruction and potential livelihood programmes
suitable for the village.
“Timely completion of
Laprak rebuilding work will send a positive message to all other quake-
affected areas in the country. Therefore, the NRA requests you to complete reconstruction
at the earliest,” NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali said.
He suggested the NRNA
create a timeframe to complete the remaining works and prepare a plan for
livelihood options.
He said that since the
reconstruction body had a policy to promote integrated model settlements,
Laprak would be an example for many other quake-hit villages.
Gyawali assured the NRNA
of every support needed during the reconstruction process.
NRNA president Bhaban
Bhatta said that the organisation was committed to completing the
reconstruction at Laprak within the stipulated time despite the remoteness of
the village, difficult climatic and geographical condition.
“After the completion of
reconstruction, programmes for tourism promotion such as home stay, agriculture
and livestock development will be run,” he said.
The NRNA is constructing
573 houses in Laprak.
