FNCCI urges Maharastra to support Nepal's tourism promotion

Kathmandu, Jan. 13: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has urged the Indian government to support Nepal’s effort to attract more tourists.

A delegation of the Nepali private sector body met with Indian Commerce, Industry and Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu and and Chief Minister of Maharastra Province Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday and urged them to help in Nepal’s religious tourism promotion in India.

During a meeting with Fadnavis, the delegation leader, former president of the FNCCI, Chandi Raj Dhakal proposed collaboration in bilateral tourism promotion between Nepal and Maharastra.

“He also urged the Indian chief minister to increase Kathmandu-Mumbai flights as well,” said the FNCCI in a press statement.

Dhakal extended FNCCI's invitation to Minister Prabhu as the guest at the Chamber and Industry Day celebrations being held on April 11.

FNCCI vice-president Kishor Kumar Pradhan said that Nepal has simplified the laws and policies related to business and investment and urged the Indian investors to invest in Nepal. “Nepal has developed ‘One Stop Service’ to facilitate the foreign investors and the company registration process has been simplified,” he said.

The FNCCI delegation is in Mumbai to participate in the CII-Partnership Summit 2019 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

Dhakal has addressed the summit that was attended by business delegations from 44 countries in Asia, Africa and Europe. He had assured government and private sector cooperation to the foreign investors and urged the participants to invest in priority areas like energy, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure and information technology.

Members of FNCCI and CII also emphasised on enhanced cooperation and collaboration between the two organisations.
