Hemant Kumar Chaurasia, Immediate
Past President of Computer Association Nepal (CAN) Federation, has been
re-elected to the Board of Directors of World Information Technology and
Services Alliance (WITSA) for the term of 2022-24.
Chaurasia was elected for
his third term in the post representing the CAN Federation at the WITSA Annual
General Meeting held last week.
Previously, he was
elected to the same position representing the organisation for 2018-20 and was
the treasurer for the term of 2020-22. Chaurasia led the CAN Federation as
president from 2017 to 2019.
The committee led by
President of National ICT Association of Malaysia President Dr. Sean Seah includes
20-members representing five continents, Malaysia, Brazil, Spain, Bermuda,
South Africa, Costa Rica, Jordan, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Nigeria, Nepal, North
Macedonia, Canada, Argentina, Bangladesh, Japan, Taiwan, Egypt, Romania and Armenia.
With members in 80 countries
across the world, WITSA represents 90 per cent of the world's total information
technology-related economic transactions, informed CAN Federation in a statement
on Sunday.
Meanwhile, CAN Federation
believes that his representation in WITSA will help in the CAN Federation's
efforts to establish access to the changing technology and digital economy, and
ICT as a new strategic pillar of the country's development.
