Ambassador appointee of Nepal to Myanmar, Harishchandra
Ghimire, said that Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, and Nepal community
in Myanmar are the two factors that could play an instrumental role in
enhancing trade and tourism with the country.
"We must consider Lumbini and Nepali diaspora in
Myanmar as the two important factors while making policies for bilateral
promotions and tourism business," he said while speaking at a reception
programme in his and Myanmar's Ambassador to Nepal U Sein Oo organised by the
Nepal-Myanmar Friendship Council (NMFC) and Nepal Myanmar Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (NMCCI) the other day.
He also said that Myanmar students in Nepal could be another
area of exchange in the future.
Emphasizing direct flight services to Yangon and Mandalay of
Myanmar from the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA), envoy Ghimire said
that economic, social and cultural exchanges should be enhanced between the two
countries.
He also urged for frequent business delegations. He promised
to explore mutually beneficial areas of cooperation and cooperate with the authorities
in Myanmar and its ambassador in Nepal.
Ambassador Oo expressed best wishes for Ghimire for his
assignment in Myanmar on behalf of his embassy in Kathmandu, country,
government and people.
He also hoped that the bilateral relations between people as
well as people to people relations would continue to flourish in Ghimire's
tenure.
Likewise, President of NMCCI, Shiva Agrawal, said that there
was a need to use the opportunity to take actions in the interest of both the
countries.
He also said that direct air services could provide a good
opportunity for Nepal to promote its trade and tourism in Myanmar and vice
versa.
Shankar Ghimire, NMFC, emphasized on cultural and people to
people exchanges.
