Nepal Association of Financial Journalists
(NAFIJ) is set to award the best banking reporters with the financial support
from the Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions, Nepal (CBFIN) from
this year.
Chairman of NAFIJ, Modnath Dhakal and Chairman
of CBFIN Pawan Kumar Golyan signed a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect
on Thursday.
The two organisations have forged a
collaboration to award the financial journalists who are writing in the banking
beat with the purpose of developing their skills, expanding their abilities and
encouraging them to practice good journalism. The award is expected to promote
healthy and investigative economic journalism.
This year's award will be offered to two
journalists with a purse of Rs. 50,000 each and certificates on the occasion of
NAFIJ Day on September 16. A jury will
be formed to select the best stories.
The two organisations have also said that they
will work towards establishing a revolving fund to provide similar awards in
the future.
Golyan said that the award is expected to
promote good and investigative journalism that would help in creating
investment environment and promote economic growth. Likewise, Dhakal said that
NAFIJ expected that the award would promote competitive and investigative
journalism.
