Global IME Bank Limited and Bhandara Milk Producers Cooperatives have
signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to increase the access of small
farmers to agricultural subsidy loans.
The MoU was signed by Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Surendra
Raj Regmi, and Chairman of Bhandara Milk Producers Cooperative Society, Dilli
Prasad Thapalia.
According to the agreement, the bank will provide concessional loans to
the farmers who raise advanced breed cows and buffaloes and produce milk and
dairy products in various places of Bhandara and Chitwan district on the recommendation
of the cooperatives, while the cooperative organisation will arrange necessary
training for small farmers on the recommendation of the bank.
On that occasion, GIBL also conducted an awareness programme on financial
literacy to connect local farmers to the benefits of digital banking services.
The programme was attended by more than 300 locals, said the bank in a
statement.
GIBL has has 289 branches, 272 ATMs, 275 branchless banking services, 52
extension and revenue collection counters and 3 banks in all 7 provinces and 77
districts. It is providing services to more than 3 million customers from about
890 service centers including foreign representative offices.
