Deadline set for beneficiaries to receive the grant

Kathmandu, July 16:
The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has set the deadline to collect the housing grant.
According to the set deadline, the beneficiaries should collect entire tranche by mid July 2018.
The meeting of steering committee on July 12 instructed the NRA to set the deadline for collecting different tranche of grant.
The Authority has requested the beneficiaries to collect the entire amount within the prescribed timeframe.
There is a huge disparity in the number of beneficiaries receiving the first tranche and the number of beneficiaries building the house.
The latest decision is aimed at persuading the beneficiaries to build the house, said Yam LalBhoosal, NRA spokesperson.
He explained that the Authority took this decision to speed up the grant distribution process.
As per the decided timetable, the identified beneficiaries should sign the agreement and collect the first tranche by mid November 2017.
Likewise, the beneficiaries who have collected the first tranche by mid January 2016 should receive their second tranche by mid January 2017.
For the beneficiaries who received the first tranche by mid November 2017 should collect the second tranche by mid April 2018.
The beneficiaries who receives the second tranche by mid January 2018should receive the third tranche by mid June 2018.
The Authority has set the deadline for the beneficiaries receiving the second tranche by mid January 2017 and should collect the third tranche by mid July 2018.
As of latest data,625,822beneficiaries have signed the grant agreement, out of which 594,150 have collected the first tranche and 52166 beneficiaries have received the second tranche.
Due to no set time frame, beneficiaries feltthat they can build the house any time. This decision has come to inform the beneficiaries that grant distribution for private housing is not indefinite.
NRA has disbursed 13 billion in quake affected districts six months ago with a hope that the beneficiaries will collect second and third tranche.

The deadline will speed up the grant distribution process, said Yam LalBhoosal.
