DPM Mahara meets IAEA DG

Kathmandu, July 5: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara Wednesday said that the government was planning to develop a policy regarding the atomic energy.

In a meeting with Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at his office at the Singha Durbar, Mahara thanked the international agency for its contribution to energy and health sector in Nepal.

He appreciated the technical support that IAEA provided to the BP Memorial Cancer Hospital of Chitwan.
 Amano said that the IAEA was developing new protocol for atomic defense.
“Area of cooperation in the atomic energy will be expanded after the implementation of new protocol,” he said.

Amano also called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in the afternoon.
