Ambassador
of Nepal
to Myanmar Bhim K. Udas
Thursday presented his letter of credence to President of Myanmar U Htin Kyaw
at a special function at the President Office in Nay Pyi Taw.
Accepting
Udas’ credential, President Kyaw hoped that the cordial and friendly diplomatic
relations existed between Myanmar and Nepal since 1960 would further strengthen
during his tenure.
“The
President stated that his government would extend necessary support to improve
relations between the two countries,” the Embassy of Nepal in Myanmar said in a press statement.
Kyaw
expressed his interest to visit Nepal
and Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, and asked Udas to convey his
congratulations to Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Udas
said that Nepal
would like to develop bilateral economic cooperation by enhancing pilgrimage
tourism and trade between the two countries.
“Both
the countries share common interest in regional bodies, such as, BIMSTEC and
Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD),” he said.
