DPM urges Norway to expand investment in Nepal

Kathmandu, July 18: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara Tuesday urged Norway to expand its investment in Nepal.
In a courtesy meeting with the Norwegian ambassador Kjell Tormod Pettersen at Singha Durbar, DPM Mahara said, “With the implementation of remaining elections, the prolonged transition will be over and there will be even better investment climate. Therefore, this is the high time to increase your investment in Nepal.”
According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), issues like bilateral interest and investment were discussed in the meeting.
The DPM thanked Norway for its support in Nepal’s peace process and during the devastating earthquake in 2015.
Ambassador Pettersen said that Norway was interested to increase its investment in hydroelectricity sector in Nepal.
He said that Norway would continue to support Nepal in its economic, social and democratic development.
Meanwhile, DPM Mahara launched Chinese Higer mini-bus in Nepal. The vehicle is imported in Nepal by Arks Group.
Speaking at the bus launching ceremony, he said that the government would facilitate large passenger vehicles and luxury tourist buses.
Chief executive officer of the group Rajul Shrestha said that the bus had A/C heater, wifi, refrigerator, television, and other facilities required for comfortable journey.
The bus costs Rs. 7.37 million in Nepali market.
