Kathmandu, Oct. 9: The National Reconstruction
Authority (NRA) Monday announced that the quake-affected families that are
eligible for the second installment of the house reconstruction grant would
also receive the third tranche.
Issuing a press statement here today, it said that
the households eligible for the second tranche of the grant, Rs. 150,000, will
automatically get the last part of the money, Rs. 100,000, at the
recommendation from their respective municipality or rural municipality office.
“But both the tranches will only be delivered in a
condition that the household completes the construction of their house within
five months,” said the post-quake reconstruction body.
The NRA had sent a proposal for the same to the
Ministry of Finance (MoF), and the ministry accepted it.
NRA spokesperson Yam Lal Bhoosal said that
following the approval of the proposal by the MoF, the grant distribution would
be speeded up.
“It will expedite the private house reconstruction
and support entire post-quake reconstruction process,” he said.
With this
provision, the beneficiaries can obtain both the installments after the
completion of the house at the DPC level.
Of the total 765,618 beneficiaries, 609,940
households have received the first installment of the house grant while the
number of second and third tranche recipient is 79,114 and 7,994 respectively.
About 50,251 houses have been built so far
although the reconstruction body had claimed that about 150,000 houses would be
constructed till September end.
Approximately 130,234 houses are now under
construction.
