ITC suggests to use missions abroad in economic promotion

Kathmandu, Oct. 12: International Trade Center (ITC)’s Executive Director Arancha Gonzalez Thursday recommended Nepal to use its missions abroad in economic promotion.
In a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara at his office at the Singha Durbar, she said that products of Nepal could be promoted in the global market therefore the focus should be on utilizing the missions abroad rather than relying on the traditional diplomacy.
“Nepal has an immense potential in economic development and trade. Therefore, attention should be paid to quality production, branding and effective marketing,” she said.
According to her, coffee, tea, large cardamom and Nepali handmade paper have great importance in the international market.
DPM Mahara updated Gonzalez about the recent political developments in the country and said that after concluding the peace process, the country was striving for the economic progress.
He expressed hope that the ITC would provide additional support in branding ‘made in Nepal’ goods in the international market.
