Indian envoy directs Arun III to expedite works

Sankhuwasabha, Jan. 3:
Indian envoy to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri has directed officials of the Arun III Hydroelectricity Project to expedite the construction works.

“Arun III is a pride project for both Nepal and India. It will strengthen the energy cooperation between the two countries, therefore, it must be completed at the earliest,” he said.

The project will provide 21.9 per cent – 197 mw – energy to Nepal free of cost, and a 29 per cent equity.
It has distributed a compensation of Rs. 1.19 billion for land acquisition in the affected areas at Num, Pathibhara and Yaphu of Makalu Rural Municipality and Diding and Pukhuwa of Chichila Rural Municipality.
