Kathmandu,
Jan. 4: President Bidya Devi Bhandari will inaugurate the first ever
hydroelectricity expo in the country – Himalayan Hydro Expo 2018 – at the
Bhrikutimandap on Friday.
Organiser
of the event the Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) said that
the preparation for the exhibition has been completed.
IPPAN is organising the expo in collaboration
with Expo and Event Management Service Pvt. Ltd.
The expo will feature more than
100 stalls of hydropower producers, hydro equipment producers, suppliers,
designers, consultants, insurance companies, investors, and bank and finance
companies.
The organisers claimed that the
event will support in materialising the government target of producing 17,000
megawatt of electricity in the next seven years through domestic and foreign
investment, and will help in expanding the country’s energy market.
According to IPPAN President
Shailendra Guragain, companies and stakeholders from China, India, Norway,
South Korea, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, the
United Kingdom and Brazil will participate in the exhibition.
Seminars on hydro tunnelling,
banking and insurance and hydropower, as well as Hydro Product and Service
Competition will also be organised during the expo.
