Kathmandu, Jan 11:
Minister for
Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet Thursday said the clean
feed policy couldn’t be implemented due to the conflict of interest among the
private sector businesses.
“I am aware
that the advertisement entrepreneurs have been demanding clean feed for a long
time. If ‘clean feed’ is favourable for the Nepali advertising business, it
should be implemented, but more discussion is needed for it,” he said at the
Annual General Assembly of the Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN).
He stated that
the government was ready to collaborate with the private sector for the
business development and economic prosperity of the country.
The minister
pledged his support for the development of the Nepali advertising industry and
AAN.
AAN president
Santosh Shrestha demanded implementation of the clean feed policy at the
earliest.
“With the
implementation of the clean feed, the advertising market will double from the
current size of Rs. 6 billion. The advertising industry also needs an
Advertising Council,” he said.
He urged the
government to establish the council as soon as possible.
According to
him, there are about 1,500 advertising businesses across the country so the
government should recognise it as an industry.
President of
the confederation of Nepali Industries Hari Bhakta Sharma said that the
government should support the development of this creative industry.
He also urged the
government to implement clean feed as it would increase the revenue and expand
the market of Nepali advertising.
Founding president
of AAN Banshidhar Poudel demanded that the government should implement the
National Advertising Policy formulated about one-and-a-half decades ago.
