Nepal, Senegal establish diplomatic relations

Nepal and Senegal have formally established diplomatic relations.

At a ceremony held at the sidelines of the UNGA in New York, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Senegalese Minister for African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad Cheikh Niang, signed a joint communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), before the signing, the two ministers held a meeting and exchanged views on various matters of mutual interest. They also discussed Nepal's rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts following the devastating climate-related disasters that recently struck the country.

The ministers stressed the need to further expand bilateral relations between Nepal and Senegal in the coming days for shared progress and prosperity between the two countries and their peoples. With the establishment of diplomatic relations with Senegal, Nepal's diplomatic relations have now expanded to 188 countries.
