ECN registers court verdict

Kathmandu, Mar. 7

The Election Commission Nepal has registered the verdict of the Supreme Court issued about the ownership of the name Nepal Communist Party (N C P) on Sunday.

Issuing a statement, the election management body said that it received the information letter regarding the verdict that the court had cancelled the earlier decision of the ECN to register a party with the name.

Following the parliamentary election in 2017, the two largest parties CPN (UML) and CPN (MC) were unified to create a single party which was registered in the name ‘Nepal Communist Party (N C P)’. However, the name was already given to Rishi Ram Kattel’s party but the ECN created spaces between the abbreviated letters to make it different than the earlier.
