The Ministry of Finance
decided on Wednesday to disburse Rs. 1.08 billion as the conditional grant for
health service centre being constructed in various local units.
Minister for Finance Bishnu
Prasad Paudel had given approval for the payment of the money in response to
the Ministry of Health and Population's proposal to pay the liability of the
facilities under-construction.
The government had adopted
the policy to provide basic health services in each ward across the country.
Currently, health facilities are being developed in 2,626 wards. The federal
governments makes the disbursement of the money as per the progress in the
construction of the facility.
Spokesperson of the MoF
Suman Dahal said that Rs. 4.20 billion was allocated for the construction of
health service centres in the current fiscal year. Rs. 2.69 billion has already
been disbursed earlier.
Likewise, making a landmark
decision, the government had decided to build a basic hospital in each local
unit. To address the programme the MoF had ensured resources equal to Rs. 57.97
billion for the programme. Stone laying ceremonies were held in various eight
local units for the construction of the hospitals on November 30.
